Women’s Basketball Takes Lead in Region 10

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #20 Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team moves to 20-1 overall, 13-1 in conference play after traveling to Bryant & Stratton College yesterday evening. The #17 Women's Basketball team avenged their only loss of the season by defeating the Bobcats and claiming 1st place in Region 10 by a score of 86-71.

 

Richard Bland took an early, 24-13 lead through the first quarter, and carried a 48-25 lead into the break. The Bobcats came out of the break hot, outscoring the Statesmen 24-19 in the third and 22-19 in the fourth, but Richard Bland would prevail at the buzzer.

 

Four Statesmen scored double-digit figures in the win led by Auzhane Allard who notched her 14th double-double of the season with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Allard was just two assists away from a triple-double with eight, and also added four steals. Jasmine Norman chipped in with 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks. Courtney Scott added 17 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Amira Roy pitched in with 14 points and three rebounds in the win.

 

Richard Bland went 76.2% from the charity stripe, 49.2% from the field, and 50.0% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next travels to Louisburg College on Wednesday, February 22nd at 6pm.
