Softball Closes Season in Region 10 Semifinals

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Softball team closed the season at 16-18 overall after traveling to Louisburg, North Carolina for the double elimination, Region 10 Division II Softball Tournament.

In the semifinal round of the tournament, the Statesmen faced #3 Bryant & Stratton College (VA). Richard Bland struggled to keep up with the Bobcats and fell 0-13 on Saturday. The Bobcats opened the scoring in the first after a double scored two runs. Shelby Godfrey, Janiya Washington, and Brookelynne Winterson each collected one hit for Richard Bland. The Statesmen accumulated four walks in the game. Taylor Green took the loss for Richard Bland. Green went two innings, giving up six runs on five hits, striking out two and walking four. McKynzi Dawson pitched three innings in relief for Richard Bland. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and seven runs while striking out none and walking one.

Taylor Green and Sara Graham were both named to the Region 10 All-Tournament Team.
