Baseball Season Comes to a Close After Dropping Final Game to Bobcats

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Baseball team finishes the season at 18-23 overall, 13-20 in conference play after traveling to Bryant & Stratton College (VA) for a single game Tuesday afternoon.

 

In the single game against the Bobcats, the Statesmen got on the board first, in the top of the first inning after Macho Santiago doubled on a line drive to center, Landon Scott singled, and Jaden Groome singled, setting up the scoring opportunity, pushing two runs across. The Bobcats took the lead in the bottom of the first, plating six runs on a double, a walk, and a home run. The Bobcats added two more runs in the third. Ramsey singled in the top of the fifth, scoring Reece Hamilton. Bryant & Stratton tallied six runs in the bottom of the fifth to hold on for a five inning, 3-14 win. Richard Bland collected six hits, two walks, and two stolen bases on the day.

 

Jackson Hulcher started on the hill for Richard Bland. The righty surrendered six runs on three hits, striking out one and walking three in one inning pitched. Charlie Rohr, Ben Adams, and Ryan Martin all came in, in relief for the Statesmen.

 

The Richard Bland College baseball team closes the season at 18-23 overall and will continue to work towards future success and development of the third year program.

 

 

In the record book:

On Saturday, March 30th the baseball team surpassed the previous record of most wins in a season (12), after defeating Lenoir Community College in game two of the series, reaching the 13th win of the season. They continued their success and finished the season with 18 total wins.

 

Matthew Boyd leaves Richard Bland with the Career Record in Strike Outs with 93, and Innings Pitched with 91.2.
