Game One: Bryant & Stratton College 10, Patrick Henry CC 9
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Bryant & Stratton College hosted Patrick Henry CC, #10 in the Region, this weekend at Trant Field.
G Wente on the mound for the Bobcats, pitched six innings, allowing seven runs on eleven hits, while striking out six. Van Markinton led the Bobcats with three hits, in five at bats, driving in three RBIs. Trey Toppin, Kelon Welsey, Connor Hanes, Kevin Urena and G Wente contributed multiple hits in game one.
Bottom of the ninth inning, game knotted at 9-9, G Wente hot at the plate, hit a walk off solo homer to take game one. His second of the day. Trey Toppin also hit a long ball in the fifth inning to lead the Bobcats to victory.
Hanner on the rubber for the Patriots, allowed two runs on six hits, while striking out seven. Third baseman, Brown led the team with three hits and one RBI.
Game Two: Bryant & Stratton College 5, Patrick Henry CC 7
Seth Houston led the Bobcats on the hill for game two, allowing six hits and four runs, striking out four in six innings pitched.
The Bobcats jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Connor Hanes, Evan Antonellis, and Kelon Wesley all with multiple hits.
Game two came down to the wire in the top of the seventh inning, Patrick Henry CC’s Falbo singled to center field to lead off the inning. Nestor hit a RBI double to left field, scoring Falbo. With Nestor in scoring position, Brammell hit an opposite field single scoring Nestor. 5-4 The Patriots down two, C Hopkins pitching, walks Nellis to bring the tying run to the plate. On a 0-1 count, Brown hit his second homerun of the day to left field, to seal the victory for the Patriots.
Barrett pitched for the Patriots through seven innings, allowing runs on seven hits, while striking out seven.
Game Three: Bryant & Stratton College 14, Patrick Henry CC 7
Series tied 1-1, the Patriots put runs on the board early, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Winesburgh led the Patriots going 4-4 at the plate, and four RBIs. Brammell and Varrano contributing two hits each in game three.
Powell on the hill, pitched four innings for the Patriots, giving up four runs on six hits, while striking out six.
Several lead changes throughout game three, the Bobcats seal the win in the seventh, scoring five more runs. Kevin Russell led the Bobcat’s offense, with three hits and five RBIs. Connor Hanes, Kelon Wesley, Kevin Urena, and Trey Toppin all with multiple hits in the final game of the series.
The Bobcats hosts CCBC Catonsville in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 4th at 12pm and 4pm.
