Game One: Bryant & Stratton College 4, Guilford Tech CC 3
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Bryant & Stratton Baseball team hosted Guilford Tech this weekend for a three-game series at Trant Field.
The Bobcats struck first in the bottom of the first inning, Evan Antonellis singled on a one-out shot to the leftfielder B Carver. Kelon Wesley singled to centerfield, scoring Evan Antonellis attempting to take second base. The Bobcats held the Titans through seven innings, Garrett Wente and Trent Kochheiser allowed four hits and three runs.
A Teague two-run homerun, on a 0-2 count in the top of the eighth inning, pushed the Titans ahead by one run. 3-2
Down to the wire, BSC knotted it up in the bottom of the eighth, Evan Antonellis knocked a triple to centerfield, setting up the tying run. Chris Guiles hit a game-tying single to shortstop scoring Evan Antonellis.
Unable to answer, the Titans go scoreless in the top of the ninth. Home team advantage, the Bobcat’s Kevin Russell led off with a line drive to the centerfielder A Brooks. Pinch Runner J DeFransico, stole second to put the Bobcats in scoring position. Kevin Urena reached second base on error by M Kruzburg at third base. J Defransico advanced to third on the same error. Next up. Trey Toppin’s patience at the plate, loaded the bases for the Bobcats. Mason Velasquez, aggressively attacked the first pitch, grounded to an error at shortstop by N Scuibba.
The Bobcats ninth inning walk-off win sealed game one.
Game Two: Bryant & Stratton College 10, Guilford Tech CC 3
Bryant & Stratton College offense still fired up from game one, scored eight runs over five innings. Kevin Urena led the offense going 3-3 at the plate. Kelon Wesley, Chris Guiles, and Kevin Russell all with multiple hits.
Seth Houston started on the rubber for the Bobcats, allowing five hits and three runs over five innings, with six strikeouts.
Jacob Cornatzer on the rubber for the Titans, went three innings giving up eight hits and seven runs, striking out four.
BSC racked up twelve hits and ten runs, to lead 2-0 in the series.
Game Three: Bryant & Stratton College 14, Guilford Tech CC 2
Momentum high, BSC powered fourteen hits and crossed all fourteen at the plate to sweep the series 3-0. In the series finale, Connor Hanes led the offense going 3-3 at the plate, with three RBIs. Evan Antonellis, Chris Guiles, Kelon Wesley, Kevin Russell, and Mason Velasquez sprayed multiple hits this afternoon.
Shane Davis earned the win for the Bobcats, only allowing two runs on six hits through five innings, striking out eight.
Pete Vurnakes took the loss for the Titans, giving up ten hits and eleven runs, striking out three over two innings. Briston Carver led Guilford Tech offense going 2-2, with one RBI.
The Bobcats hosts Louisburg CC Tuesday, March 27th. Game time at 3pm
