LANCASTER, SC – Bryant & Stratton College Baseball team traveled to S.C for a doubleheader against the Lancers.
Fox pitching for the Lancers, found his groove from the very first pitch allowing two hits and zero runs, while striking out four over five innings. His supporting offense, collected nine hits including four home runs on the day. Knecce, Firmstone, Gcei and Evans each with multiple hits, each including home runs, to sweep the Bobcats.
Trent Kocheiser starting for the Bobcats, gave up four hits over two and two-thirds inning, striking out two. Chris Gilles and Connor Hanes tallied one hit each to led the Bobcats offensively. Final 0-10
GAME TWO – The Bobcats looking for redemption, came out the gates swinging. Chris Guiles tripled to right field on a 1-0 count. K Wesley grounded into a double play while driving in the Bobcats first run of the day. The Bobcats continued the scoring drive through the third inning, scoring four more runs. 5-0
Bottom of the third, Knecce hits a three-run homer to close the gap 3-5. It was the Lancers turn to get the bats going, earning ten more runs over three innings. The Lancers start to pull away in the bottom of the sixth inning, when hot hitters Knecce, Watt, Gecci, and Firmstone all drive in RBIs to seal the win.
Kelon Welsey and Kevin Russell led the Bobcats offense going 3-5 at the plate, scoring two runs, two RBIs, and a homerun. Chris Guiles, Kevin Russell, and Trey Toppin totaled multiple hits for BSC. Josh Reilly pitched game two, allowing six runs on three hits in three innings. Justin Towels and Colton Hopkins, entered from the bullpen for the saves but to no avail the Lancers did not let up. Final 10-13
The Bobcats and USC Lancasters meet again tomorrow, Sunday February 25th for a doubleheader. Game times 12pm and 3:30pm.
