MEN'S BOBCATS BEAT LENOIR COMM COLL LANCERS 73-69
On Sunday January 25th, the Bobcats were again on the road against an unfamiliar conference foe in Lenoir Community College. Both teams came out the gates firing and the score went back and forth for the first few minutes. A 12-3 run by the Bobcats allowed them to take an 18-10 lead with just over 6 minutes gone by in the first half. The lead was extended to 28-19 with 8 minutes remaining in the first half. The half time score was 42-33 in favor of the visiting Bobcats.
The Lenoir CC Lancers were able to cut the lead to 7 points in the first three minutes of the second half. With 10 minutes left, the Bobcats were unable to pull away on the Lancers home court and the lead was cut to 57-52. Rahson Robinson put the Bobcats back on top after the Lancers tied the game at 61 even with 6:45 remaining in the game. The lead by the Bobcats was brought back up to 4 points after two made free throws by A'Kanni White with three minutes remaining. Although they were once again shorthanded, the Bobcats were able to pull the win out 73-69 with great shooting from the free throw line down the stretch.
A'Kanni White led all scorers with his season high 22 points including going 13-14 from the free throw line. Demonte Burns scored 15 points which ties his season high for points this season and he also had 7 rebounds. Rahson Robinson scored 14 points going 9-10 from the free throw line and also pulling down 7 rebounds.
The Bobcats are now 16-5 on the year and 9-3 in Region 10 Conference Play. Up next is a home game on Saturday January 31, 2015 at 3:00pm against the # 2 ranked Louisburg College Hurricanes. It should be a good one as the previous game between the two was decided last few minutes.
