BIG HOMECOMING VICTORY: MEN'S BOBCATS DEFEAT VGCC VANGUARDS 72-54
The 16th ranked Bobcats hosted the Vance-Granville Vanguards for their 2014-2015 Homecoming game. The Bobcats hosted their first "Hoops for a Cure" event to support Breast Cancer awareness, and joined the audience by wearing Pink Bobcats shirts to participate in the game's "Pink Out" theme.
A'Kanni White started the Bobcats off with a deep 3-pointer. That shot was followed by four more 3's over the first 6 minutes of the game, to give the Bobcats a 10 point cushion at 15-5. As the Bobcat starters rested, the bench came in and picked right back up where the starters left off by extending the lead to 27-14 with 7:45 left in the first half. The Bobcats continued to roll the rest of the first half by hitting a total of ten 3-pointers and led 44-22 at intermission.
The Bobcats started the first 4 minutes of the second half off on an 11-4 run to extend the lead to 55-26. By the 7:30 mark of the second half, the lead by the Bobcats was 62-36 in large part to their tough defense which only allows on average about 68 points per game. A dunk by Demitri Wilson, with just over a minute left in the contest, all but sealed the 72-54 victory by the Bobcats.
Zachary Johnson led the Bobcats in scoring with 16 points while also grabbing 7 rebounds. Rahson Robinson scored 9 points and had 6 rebounds. Jaleel Ferguson pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Bobcats there and A'Kanni White dished out 5 assists.
