BSC MEN'S BOBCATS START THE NEW YEAR WITH A WIN AGAINST CATAWBA VALLEY 67-65
The BSC Men's Bobcats started the year off with a conference road game against Catawba Valley CC. The Bobcats won all three meetings last season against the Red Hawks with the quarterfinal game in the conference tournament being the closest. Mainly new faces for both teams this season with a few returners.
The game started out very evenly matched with both teams unable to pull ahead and get a comfortable lead. The Red Hawks started gaining momentum on their home court in the middle of the first half and pulled out to a 24-19 lead over the Bobcats with 8 and a half minutes remaining in the first. The Bobcats fought hard to gain a lead before halftime but found themselves trailing at the half for the first time this season with the score Bobcats 35 and Red Hawks 39.
The second half started with much of the same as the first with both teams trading buckets. The Bobcats slowly cut the lead to zero and took a 6 point lead with 8 minutes remaining in the game. The Red Hawks did not die down and fought back and had a 1 point lead with a minute and a half remaining in the game. A 3-pointer from Kreighton Lambert with 43 seconds left in the game gave the Bobcats a 2 point lead and sealed the game as the Bobcats won 67-65.
A'Kanni White and Romello Anderson shared the scoring load and both finished with 17 points. A'Kanni White was also the leading assist man with 6. Kreighton Lambert led the Bobcats with 4 steals.
