(13-4) MEN'S BOBCATS DEFEAT LENOIR CC LANCERS 80-56
The (13-4) Bobcats played their first home game of 2016 in a Region X Conference game against Lenoir CC. This was the first meeting between the two teams this season.
Greg Heckstall got the Bobcats off to a hot start by going 3-3 in the first 3 minutes of the game from 3-point range to give the Bobcats an early 9-1 lead. Lenoir answered back to close the gap to 9-7 with 15 minutes remaining in the first half. The Lenoir CC Lancers hung tight with the Bobcats for the first 10 minutes of the half. The Bobcats began pulling away from the Lancers and took a 23-13 lead with 9 minutes remaining in the half after a free throw from Romello Anderson. The half time score was Bobcats 40 and Lancers 32.
The Bobcats quickly brought the lead back to double digits early in the second half and kept the pressure up on their opponent. Edward Gordon hit a 3-pointer with 4 and a half minutes remaining in the contest to increase the Bobcat lead to 20. Over the next 8 minutes the Bobcats were able to extend the lead to 70-46. A block from Greg Heckstall that led to dunk from Shyheim Draughan kept the Bobcats lead at 24 with 4 and a half minutes remaining in the game. Everyone contributed in different ways for the Bobcats who stayed unbeaten at home with an 80-56 victory. The Bobcats are now (14-4) on the season and (8-0) in Region X Conference Play.
Greg Heckstall led all scorers with 23 points and was also the leading rebounder with 10. This was his career high in points and 8th double-double on the season. Romello Anderson added in 11 points and Jaleel Ferguson finished with 9 points and 7 rebounds.
