BSC BOBCATS 81 defeat CECIL SEAHAWKS 77
The Men's Bobcats basketball team kicked their season off on the road at the CCBC-Dundlak Mixer in Dundlak, MD. The three day mixer features teams from NY, MD, and VA. Tonight the Bobcats faced off against the Cecil Seahawks.
The Bobcats started the game off strong maintaining a small lead and led 20-17 midway through the first half. The final 10 minutes of the first half went back and forth with both teams exchanging baskets and the lead. Corey Joyner made a layup in the closing seconds of the half that gave the Bobcats a 38-37 advantage going into halftime. Turnovers were a big issue for the Bobcats in the first half and a major factor as to why they couldn't pull away from the Seahawks.
The Bobcats got off to a slow start in the second half and gave up the lead early to Cecil. The Seahawks made a strong run and the Bobcats quickly fell behind by 16 points. The bench, led by Tahjay Jacobs, sparked the offense and defense of the Bobcats and they were able to cut the deficit down to five points with three minutes remaining in the game. A steal and layup by Jacobs gave the Bobcats their first lead since the beginning of the second half with 1:16 remaining in the contest. A strong take by returner, Jordan Forbes, gave the Bobcats an 81-77 lead after a free throw, which completed the three point play. The Bobcats fought through adversity and came out with the 81-77 victory.
The Bobcats were led in scoring by Tahjay Jacobs, 16 points. Jaja Davis, the Bobcats leading rebounder for the game, finished the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Forbes and Corey Joyner both finished with 13 points. Jordan Forbes finished the game with a team high 5 assists.
