Bobcats Defeat Pitt CC 96-95
In the second and final game of weekend for the Bobcats hosted Pitt Community College. With the series against knotted up at 4-4 Coach Cliff Coleman knew his guys were in for a battle against the Bulldogs.
As expected, the opening minutes of the contest were very close with neither team able to gain an advantage. With the score tied at 17-17, a basket by Jordan Forbes, followed by two turnovers from the Bulldogs that led to points for the Bobcats gave them a 23-17 advantage seven minutes into the contest. After a 14-point lead was diminished by a Bulldog run, the Bobcats ended the half on a 13-1 run of their own to take a 49-37 advantage into halftime.
The opening minutes of the second half were equally matched by both teams. The Bobcats increased the lead with just over 10 and a half minutes remaining in the contest to 76-60. With just under 6 six minutes remaining in the game the Bobcats led 85-72. The Bulldogs slowly chipped away at the lead and the Bobcats led by just 2 points with 2 seconds remaining. With the Bulldogs at the line and the Bobcats up 96-94, they went 1-2 at the line which sealed the Bobcat victory. The Bobcats remain undefeated in Region X Conference play at 5-0 and are 7-1 overall.
Caleb Miles again led the Bobcats in scoring, finishing the game with 16 points off the bench (5-10 3pt). Leland Richardson also had a great scoring performance finishing right behind Caleb with 15 points. Gerrard Simpkins and Corey Joyner each finished with 14 points on the night and Joyner finished as the Bobcats leading assist man with 8. Jordan Forbes and Matthias Caver both finished the game with 9 rebounds apiece to lead the Bobcats.
