#15 Bobcats extend win streak to 5 after 2 road wins
The Bobcats were back in action this past weekend on the road taking on two conference opponents. On Saturday they faced off against Southwest VA CC, a relatively new team in the conference, this was the 4th meeting all time between the two teams, the previous 3 were all won by the Bobcats.
The Bobcats started off the game strong and used their size advantage inside to control the glass and interior scoring. The Bobcat lead quickly went to double-digits and they closed out the half 57-35. This was the highest first half scoring output by the Bobcats all season. Looking to keep things rolling in the second half the Bobcats continued to impose their advantage inside which opened up things for them on the outside, hitting 14 3's this game, second highest output all season. The final score ended up 125-72, the largest win margin all season by the bobcats and highest scoring total in program history.
Seven Bobcats ended up with double figure scoring for the Bobcats. Logan Blair led the way for the Bobcats with his first career triple-double as a Bobcat 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jefferson Youngblood was the high point man for the Bobcats with 21, Zaire Rogers had 20 points and 9 rebounds, Josiah Dow had his 3rd double-doble of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds, De'von Brown had 16 points off the bench, Caleb Walker had 12 points, and Montrell Jackson had 11 points. Kendall Bynum had a season high 12 assists for the Bobcats.
In the second game of their road trip the Bobcats matched up with the Guilford Tech Titans. The Bobcats defeated the Titans at home in November 74-68. Going into the matchup the Bobcats were 14-4 all-time against Guilford Tech.
The Bobcats got off to a relatively slow start to the game, they were unable to get anything going consistently on the offensive side of the ball, it was a very physical matchup inside for the entire game. The Bobcats led 34-31 going into the half.
The second half was very tightly contested with the Bobcats unable to really pull away from the Titans, with every run they made, it was countered by a small run by the Titans. It wasn't until the last 4 minutes of the game that the Bobcats were able to put together the stops they needed and capitalize on the offensive end of the floor. The Bobcats were victorious 79-69.
Caleb Walker and Logan Blair led the way for the Bobcats with 14 points a piece, Josiah Dow added in 13 points and 9 rebounds, and Kendall Bynum had 10 points and 8 assists.
Next up the #15 Bobcats (16-2) travel to Louisburg, NC to take on the Louisburg Hurricanes (9-7) in a conference matchup on Saturday, January 21st at 3:00PM.
