BSC Eliminated by Southeastern CC in the Region X Tournament this Weekend 9-10
The Region 10 Softball Tournament kicked off this weekend on Thursday, announcing All Region Awards at the annual Awards Banquet. Tournament games started at 10:00am on Friday, May 4 at Springwood Park in Burlington, NC., with the overall #1 seed Florence Darlington Tech (34-8, 21-3) playing the #8 seed Bryant & Stratton (8-27, 0-20) and the #4 seed Southeastern (31-9, 17-7) vs. #5 seed Richard Bland (26-13, 15-9).
Game One: Bryant & Stratton College 4; Florence-Darlington Tech 12
Burlington, NC – Bryant & Stratton College fell behind early in the second inning, when Florence Darlington scored six runs off two errors and two RBI singless hit by K Lee and R Boyle.
Jenniffer Almonte in the circle for the Bobcats, allowed eleven hits on twelve runs, while striking out one. Briannah McFadden-Ward led the Bobcats offense with one hit and two RBIs. Nadine Arredondo, Jennifer Almonte and Danicely Hernandez all contributed with one hit.
M Tyndall led the Stingers on the mound, only allowing one hit and zero runs, while striking out six. K Lee and B Miller led the Stingers offense to victory to seal the win in the first round.
Bryant & Stratton College fell to the loser’s bracket and faced Southeastern CC for the 2pm game time.
Game Two: Bryant & Stratton College 9; Southeastern CC 10
Bryant & Stratton College (8-27, 0-20) rested for a game break before facing the #4 seed, Southeastern CC (31-9, 17-7).
Southeastern CC struck first in the bottom of the third inning on a passed ball, scoring R Byes. L Smith on the rubber for Southeastern, pitched three innings, giving up three hits and three runs, while striking out two and walking one.
After a few lead changes throughout the game, the Bobcats up by one run going into the top of the seventh inning 8-7, added an insurance run, when Danicely Hernandez singled up the middle. Briannah McFadden Ward bunts into a fielder’s choice for the first out of the inning. Dannalee Diplan advance Ward with a grounder to first. Natalie Joyce doubles on a hard grounder to center, scoring Ward. 9-7.
Up by two, with three outs to seal the win and move on to game #3 at 6pm, the Bobcats started the bottom of the seventh with a R Byes walk. Bringing the tying run to the plate, K Paul singled to left field. N Bullard reached on error by third basemen Hernandez. R Byes scores. 9-8 L Pait patient at the plate, walked to load the bases. Down to the wire, K Patrick singled on a hard ground ball to left, scoring the winning runs to eliminate the Bobcats 9-10.
