VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Bryant & Stratton College Softball Team had a shut-out weekend against Florence-Darlington CC at Princess Anne High School.
On the mound for Florence-Darlington CC, V Alexander, allowing two hits and two strikeouts through four innings. The Lady Stingers sprayed the field with nine hits, led by S Cox with two hits, four RBIs, and two walks. V Alexander helped herself offensively with one hit and three RBIs on the day.
Jenniffer Almonte pitched three innings for the Lady Bobcats, giving up seven hits and two strikeouts. Coming in for relief Natalie Joyce, allowing two hits and one strike out through two innings.
Brylee Sutherland led the Bobcat offense, ending the no-hitter in the bottom of the second, knocking a homer over the left field fence, scoring BSC's only run of the game. 1-15
GAME TWO – The Lady Bobcats, looking to break their ten-game losing streak, scored early in game two. Natalie Joyce led off, in the bottom of the first, with a line drive to centerfield. Kaleigh Arnett moved Joyce on a groundout to the first baseman. Brylee Sutherland still hot from game one, hits a line drive double to centerfield, scoring Joyce from second. The Bobcats on top early 1-0.
Morgan Foy, lefty on the mound for the Bobcats, allowed five hits and seven runs and three strikeouts over five innings. Kerry Flanagan led the Bobcats going 2-3 at the plate. Nadine Arredondo hit a two-run homer, in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Brylee Sutherland.
Florence-Darlington offense rallied back and BSC never relinquished the lead. The Lady Stingers totaled fourteen hits and twenty runs in game two. S Cox, K Lee, E Bailey, R Boyle, and B Elms contributed multiple hits. B Gaines homered in the top of the fifth, with three RBIs on the day.
M Tyndall took the run-rule win for the Lady Stingers after five innings, allowing nine hits, four runs, and eight strikeouts.
The Lady Bobcats travel to North Carolina Friday, March 23rd to face off against Southeastern CC at 2pm and 4pm.
