VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Bryant & Stratton College Softball Team hosted Richard Bland CC Sunday at Princess Anne High School, for their first conference game of the season.
The Statesmen came out swinging in the first inning, when B Bilyard tripled on a 1-1 count to right field to lead off the inning. K Justice singled on a deep grounder to shortstop, sending B Bilyard in to score. Jenniffer Almonte, in the circle for the Bobcats, hit K Morris to put her on. Runners on first and second, M Simms hit a grounder through the five-six hole to advance the runners. Bases loaded, the Statesmen put another run on the board when K Lanier, patient at the plate, walked to score the second run of the game.
Richard Bland CC added four more runs over five innings. M Simms homered on a fly ball to left field, totaling three RBIs on the day. She went 4-4 at the plate, scoring three runs to force the run-rule victory over the Bobcats. Final score 10-2
Jenniffer Almonte tallied seven strike outs in six innings pitched, allowing thirteen hits and ten runs. Taelor McClenny and Kaleigh Arnett led the Bobcats with two hits in four at bats.
GAME TWO – Richard Bland CC’s Vincent, in the circle, pitched five innings, yielding two hits and one run. She dominated the mound striking out four and no walks. The Statesmen’s offense totaled nineteen hits and bringing seventeen runs across the plate to sweep the Bobcats by run-rule after five innings. B Bilyard, M Simms, S Bograll, and J Chitty all contributing with multiple hits on the day. T Bilyard led the Statesmen with five RBIs and one run.
Nadine Arredondo’s homerun in the fourth inning saved the no hitter and scored BSC’s only run of the game. Danicely Hernandez came in to DH, in the bottom of the fourth inning, hitting a line drive up the middle for the Bobcats second hit of the game. Final Score 1-17
The Bobcats travel to Raleigh, NC for a doubleheader against Wake Tech CC Friday, March 9th beginning at 2pm.
