Richard Bland Sweeps BSC in Doubleheader 1-6 and 0-8

Game One: Bryant & Stratton College 1, Richard Bland College 6

PETERSBURG, VA – The Lady Bobcats traveled to Petersburg, VA to face the Statesmen of Richard Bland College Wednesday evening.

Bryant & Stratton College scored early when Natalie Joyce was hit-by-pitch in the top of the first inning.  Joyce on first, Kaleigh Arnett grounded out to shortstop to advance the runner.  Jenniffer Almonte struck out looking, for the second out of the inning.  Nadine Arredondo hit a ground ball to third, reaching on a throwing error and scoring Joyce from second base.  Brylee Sutherland flies out to the right fielder to end the inning.  The Lady Bobcats out to an early start with a one run lead.  1-0

Morgan Foy, in the circle for the Bobcats, struck out ten batters faced, while allowing six hits and six runs after six innings pitched. 

Richard Bland College took the lead for the duration of the game.  Allison Jarrett led The Statesmen’s offense going 2-3 and one RBI.

M Vincent, on the rubber for Richard Bland through seven innings, struck out seven, only allowing two hits and one run. 

Game Two: Bryant & Stratton College 0, Richard Bland College 8

Bryant & Stratton College offense continued to struggle, while Richard Bland didn’t let up in game two.  Leading with two of the three total hits on the day was starting pitcher, Natalie Joyce going 2-2 at the plate with one walk.  Briannah McFadden-Ward also reached on a line drive to left field in the top of the fourth. 

Natalie Joyce, starting in the circle, allowed six hits and six runs, while striking out one.  Jenniffer Almonte came in for relief, allowed two hits and two runs, striking out two. 

B BIlyard pitched five innings for the Statesmen, allowing three hits and seven strikeouts and zero runs.

Allison Jarrett, hot at the plate from game one, went 2-3 with three RBIs and a solo homerun in the bottom of the second inning.  Richard Bland seals the game with a run-rule victory after five.

The Lady Bobcats return to action tomorrow at Phoebus High School in Hampton agianst New Delhi.  Doubleheader starts at 2:30pm.
