VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Bryant & Stratton College Softball Team coming off a game split against Va. Union last Saturday, hosted the Eagles of Wake Tech today at Princess Anne High School.
Cristina Ocasio walked with two outs to board the bases in the bottom of the first. Nadine Arredondo, on a 0-1 count, hits a line drive homerun to centerfield to put the Bobcats on top 2-0. Not before long, the Eagles struck back when J Leclair singled to the pitcher and L Howard walked to put two men on in the top of the second. Advancing on a series of wild pitches, scoring one from smart bases running. B Boggs hit a RBI single to centerfield tying the game 2-2. Wake Tech scored seven more runs in two innings securing the lead 9-7.
Samantha Patrick, the centerfielder for the Bobcats, lead a rally attempt in the bottom of the fourth, hitting a two run homer scoring Brylee Sutherland. Natalie Joyce, Kaleigh Arnett, and Samantha Patrick all racking up multiple hits for the Bobcats.
The Eagles's, B Boggs, lead the offense with three hits in four at bats and driving in an RBI. Serena Ficek, on the mound for Wake Tech only gave up two hits and one walk.
GAME TWO – The Eagles continued to soar in game two, scoring early on a walk and an error on the defense. H Lambersten grounds out to score L Howard in the first inning putting the Eagles on top 1-0. It was down hill for the Bobcats, when everything fell apart in the top of the six, bases loaded when H Lambersten singled to centerfield driving in J Leclair and B Boggs, for two RBIs. Scoring four more runs in the top of the seventh, the Eagles did not relinquish the lead the entire game two. Final 13-6
Help herself at the plate, the pitcher Jenniffer Almonte, drove in four RBIs on homers in the fourth, a double in the fifth, and another home run in the seventh inning. Taelor McClenny, Brylee Sutherland, and Yejeiri Frias all fighting with multiple hits on the day.
Battle of the pitchers, H Lambertsen took the win, striking out three and allowing six runs on twelve hits. At the plate, she went 2-4, scoring two runs and driving in three RBIs. Wake Tech hosts BSC Friday, March 9th as they face off again at 2pm and 4pm.
The Bobcats return home tomorrow March 4th against Richard Bland, game times 1pm and 3pm.
