Wake Tech CC Sweep the Bobcats 9-10 and 9-12
FUQUAY-VARINA, NC – Bryant & Stratton College Softball team traveled to North CarolinaFriday, for a doubleheader against the Eagles of Wake Tech CC.
The Lady Bobcats attacked early in the second inning scoring Cristina Ocasio, after she lead off with a one out walk. Danicely Hernandez's hit to the opposite field scored Ocasio from second base. Taking an early 1-0 lead. Wake Tech's Lambertsen led off the bottom of the inning, hitting a fly ball single to left field. Advancing to third on a pass ball and stolen base, Lambertsen reached home on a single by S Dowell, tying the game 1-1. The Eagles go on to score four more runs that inning to take the lead 5-1.
H Lambertsen, in the circle for the Eagles, pitched seven innings, allowing sixteen hits and nine runs, striking out three. B Brown, B Boggs and S Dowell lead the Eagles offense with multiple hits and driving in two RBIs total. B Brown went 4-4 at the plate, with four RBIs.
The Bobcats rallied in the top of the sixth, leading off the inning, Briannah Ward hit a line drive single to right field. Taelor McClenny and Kaleigh Arnett kept the inning alive with singles to load the bases. Nadine Arredondo hit a fly ball to left field scoring Ward. McClenny and Arnett both advanced. McClenny taged up on a fly ball hit by Jenniffer Almonte, shortening the lead by one. 5-6 The Bobcats took the lead when Brylee Sutherland walked and Cristina Ocasio doubled to center field, driving in two RBIs. The Bobcat's first lead of the game. 7-6. The Bobcats continued the rally, Samantha Patrick singled to right field scoring Dannalee Diplan, courtesy runner for Ocasio. Danicely Hernandez hits a shot to center field, later scoring Patrick stealing home. Bobcats lead 9-6
Taelor McClenny, Kaleigh Arnett, Jenniffer Almonte, Cristina Ocaiso, Danicely Hernandez, and Briannah Ward all with multiple hits for the day. Jenniffer Almonte and Cristina Ocasio each with two and three RBIs, respectively. Almonte on the mound through seven innings, allowed ten hits and runs, while striking out three.
Wake Tech battled back, scoring four runs in two innings to defeat the Bobcats. Final score 10-9
GAME TWO – The Bobcats looked to redeem themselves in game two. Jenniffer Almonte, toed the rubber through six innings, allowing ten hits, twelve runs, and striking out two. Trailing by two runs, the Bobcats big hitter Samantha Patrick, homered to left field, to inch closer to the lead.
Bottom of the fifth inning, the Eagles busted the game wide open, adding five more runs. B Brown and H Wood with multiple hits, contributing five RBIs.
H Lambertsen, on the mound for the second time, allowed nine hits and five runs, striking out three. L Howard, with the save, allowed eight hits and four runs through three innings.
Tomorrow the Bobcats travel up the road to Winterville, NC to face the Bulldogs of Pitt CC. Game times are 12pm and 2pm.
