Softball Receives First Ever Ranking at #17 in the Country After Best Start in Program History (12-2), Currently #1 in the Conference.
The Bryant & Stratton Bobcats were schedule to play host to the Richard Bland Statesman this passed weekend but due to field conditions and light availability, only one game was completed.
Game 1:
The game came down to the wire on Saturday as the Bobcats grabbed the victory in walk off fashion 5-4 over the Statesman.
The Bobcats opened up scoring in the 3rd inning after an error resulted in a run coming home, the Statesman would then take the lead in the top of the 4th by score of 1-4.
The Bobcats, then tied the game in the bottom of the 5th thanks to a walk by #2 Cynthia Alvillar and a tag up by #22 Kiara Selby.
1 run in the bootom of the 4th and 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th would tie the game at 4-4 until the bottom of the 7th when #37 Kallie McNeely singled, scoring the game winning run via walk off.
#20 Vivia Ma, #37 McNeely and #12 Chloe Gust each collected 1 hit, while #37 McNeely, #12 Gust and #2 Alvillar, each drove in 1 run for the Bobcats. #2 Alvillar led the team in walks with 2 and the team overall had 5 walks on the game while also turning 1 double play in this game as well.
#12 Gust led the Bobcats in the circle giving up 9 hits and 4 runs (3 earned) over 7 innings, striking out 5 and walking 5.
Game 2:
The Bobcats got out to an early 3-0 lead but the game was susspened due to lack of sun light. Game 2 will resume on Tuesday at 11am followed by game 3 at 1pm now at Bland for both games.
