Bio

Yonetti Gwaltney-Balser serves as BSC Bobcats Athletic Coordinator for all sports programs and also as Bryant & Stratton’s Assistant Softball Coach.      

Yonetti Gwaltney-Balser is a native of Virginia Beach, VA.  She graduated with Honors as a Lady Chief from Kempsville High School, where she played varsity under Head Coach Dean Spruill.  Gwaltney-Balser was a former standout in the Beach District, earning VaSID All-State Team honors in 2002 and the prestigious honor of being named “2002 Beach Player of the Year” her senior year.     

She then attended Hampton University as a freshman in August 2002.  Among excelling in athletics, she was named to several academic Honors Societies including Golden Key International Honor Society, Mu Kappa Tau – International Marketing Honor Society, and Chi Alpha Sigma – National College Athlete Honor Society.  She also served on SAAC (Student Athletic Advisory Committee) at Hampton U. In May 2006, Gwaltney graduated from Hampton, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor’s of Science degree.

As a Lady Pirate, Gwaltney-Balser earned many accolades as a lead-off slapper and centerfielder.  Some of these achievements included MEAC 1ST and 2nd Team (2003 and 2004) and MEAC All-Tournament Team (2002, 2003 and 2004).  Two of her most well-known accomplishments was being ranked 2nd on the Women’s NCAA Softball Division I Stolen Bases List (2003) and currently holding the Stolen Base Record in Hampton University’s All-Time Record books (2005-present) at 128. 

She currently resides in Virginia Beach, VA.
