Lady Bobcats Prevail Over Brunswick CC
The Lady Bobcats look to bounce back after a disappointing loss in the conference. Friday night, their first home game of the New Year, was another tough conference game against Brunswick Community College.
The Dolphins stuck first and jumped out to an early lead, finishing the first quarter leading 12-21 on the Bobcats. The Dolphins hot shooting continued and the Bobcats found themselves down by 11pts at the half 27-38. Head Coach Parker’s and Coach Kara’s locker room speech was about energy on both ends of the court and communication defensively.
In the third quarter, the Lady Bobcats responded immediately, together the team put on a run that cut the lead to 7 going into the fourth 40-47. The Bobcats weren't done, they found themselves in the lead with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game. Time running out, the Bobcats held on to a two point lead and won their first game of the year 57-55.
“We are proud of the way the girls fought back and left it all on the floor. This was a team win and our bench energy and contribution to the game was big.” Coaches stated
Three players finished with double figures lead by Shaun O'Guin, with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Felise Keys and Yanna Owens finished with 11 points a piece. Off the bench, Tamiya Johnson-Charles finished with a team high 9 rebounds.
The team travels to Smithfield, NC to take on Johnston CC this Tuesday, Jan. 23th at 2PM EST.
