HOMECOMING 2017 LADY BOBS 64 vs. CLINTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE 61
BSC Women's Basketball opened play for BSC Homecoming weekend today at 1pm. Two weeks to the date since the Bobcats last game and ironically it was homecoming. The Bobcats resumed conference play against Clinton community College.
The crowd was ready and so were both teams. The Bobcats would jump out to an early lead going on a 17 to 5 run early. The golden bears would put a run together of their own and by the end of the first quarter the Bobcats lead by 2. This would set the tone for the rest of the game. Both teams traded baskets, turnovers, and defensive stops. The first half would end with BSC leading 31-30.
Second half would be no different, Tyeasha Fagan would set the tone early for the Bobcats with a series of stops and points including one that put the Bobcats up five (she finished with 9 points, 3 steals, and 4 rebounds). The Bobcats struggled from the line, shooting only 39%, but would take the lead at the end of the third. The golden bears had one more run in them and held a five-point lead with 2:49 left to play. Under a minute left, the Bobcats came within 3 and Yanna Owens, who finished with 10 points, hit her third 3 pointer of the game to tie the game at 61-61. Shauntierra O'Guin, who led all scorers with 12 points 8 rebounds and 5 blocks, would put together 3 defensive rebounds, 1 huge block, and a wide-open lay-up to give the Bobcats the lead 63-61, with 8 seconds remaining. Tiara Williams added 10 points in the Bobcats win. One stop is what the Bobcats needed and one stop is what the Bobcats got. Final score 64-61 Bobcats.
Bobcats return December 6th as they visit Fayetteville Technical Community College at 7pm.
