vs Louisburg College 1/14/23
The Lady Bobcats faced off against a familiar opponent in the Louisburg College Hurricanes whom they had defeated by just two in a close contest earlier this season. This outing was a much different story compared to the first one. The Bobcats knew they had to start quick against this team otherwise they would find themselves out of their comfort zone throughout the game; the ladies did just that. At the end of the first quarter the Bobcats held a twenty-point lead, shooting almost perfect while holding the Hurricanes to just nine points. This one was put away early as the Bobcats carried their twenty-point lead going into half time and they never let up. We witnessed five bobcats reach double digit scoring and Ashanti Broughton continues her dominating stretch finishing with a double-double in a (80-65) win. The Lady Bobcats were led by Ashanti Broughton with 16pts, 13reb, 6ast & Josceleyne Meyers with 15pts, 5reb, 5ast, 5stl.
vs Virginia Peninsula Community College 1/16/23
This matchup against the Virginia Peninsula CC Lady Gators was an odd outing compared to passed games, but the Lady Bobcats seperated themselves after a slow first quarter. Starting the game, the Gators entered with only five players and no bench and we expected the Bobcats to set the speed of the game and tire out their opponent quickly which is exactly what happened in the second quarter. Unfortunately, one of the Gators suffered an injury in the second quarter that would hold her out the rest of the game, so the team had to finish with four players but even by that time the Bobcats had this game well out of reach finishing the quarter outscoring the Gators (22-6) and at halftime they held a twenty-point lead. Out of respect for their opponent, head coach Cornell Parker had his ladies only run a soft zone defense and didn't press the ball for the remainder of the game. All players entered the scoring box in this matchup and the team was led by Ashanti Broughton with 13pts, 15reb, Joscelyne Meyers with 12pts, 7ast & Malia McCoy with 12pts, 4stl. The next time the ladies are in action will be in an away contest vs Wake Tech CC on 1/18 @5pm.
