Bobcats Down #16 Richard Bland in OT, Take #1 Spot in the Conference at (11-0)
The Bryant and Stratton Bobcats are now (16-2) overall, (11-0) & #1 in the conference after their road win against the former undefeated #16 Richard Brand Statesmen Wedenesday evening
The game was a tight one as many would have expected with the Bobcats taking an early (20-23) deficit through the first quarter. The back and fouth play would carry over into the second quarter as the Bobcats would find themselves still down but now five (36-41) at the break. The Bobcats tried to fight their way back into this one pooring on 22 points in the third quarter but would wind up being outscored by three and and trailing (66-58) going into the fourth quarter. Thats when the Bobcats turned on the jets and got things going on offense and defense end adding on 21 points while holding the statesmen to game low thirteen-points to bring the game to a tie at the end of regulation, forcing overtime. The Bobcats went on to outscore the Statesmen by three, to take home the conference win, and 1st place rank in Region 10.
Four Bobcats scored double digits and two finished with double-doubles in the win and they were led by #4 Ashanti Broughton who polished of her 14th double-double of the year finishing with 21pts, 18 reb, 9ast, & 6stl, including the game winner in overtime. #5 Jocelyne Meyers added her 4th double-double of the year finishing with 21pts & 10reb. Malia McCoy nothched off a nice 17pts, 8reb game & Shikira Perry wrapped things up with 12pts & 7reb. Also to note off the bench Takeira Grant went 100% (3/3) from three on the night in which each shot was a timely needed bucket
The Bobcats went 61% from the charity stripe, 44% from the field, and 52% from the perimeter.
The Bryant & Stratton Lady Bobcats next travel to face off against Patrick & Henry CC Saturday, February 4th with tip-off being set for 2pm.
