The Bryant & Stratton Lady Bobcats traveled on the round this passed weekend to face conference rivals in the Cape Fear Sea Devils on Saturday & the Brunswick Dolphins on Sunday.
Going into Saturdays game both the Bobcats & Sea Devils were undefeated sitting at 4-0 atop the conference and this game showed exactly why they were both undefeated.
This game was a nail biter as the entire game was played within less than 5-point leads between both teams. The Bobcats would take a 5pt deficit going into the half (23-28) but would finish the 3rd quarter strong, taking the lead back (37-35) going into the fourth where no team could find separation which would lead to overtime, tied at 47. The Bobcats would fall just short in OT (59-60), handing them their first loss of the season.
In the loss the Bobcats still put on a great performance as their defensive prowess was on full display. The Bobcats held the Seas Devils to just 18% (12-64) from the field and 21% (3-14) from the 3pt range.
What hurt the Bobcats in the end was the Sea Devils were able to amass a shocking 33 free throws as a team (33-48).
The Bobcats were led by #31 Latanya Berry with 17pt, 7reb, 6blks and #4 Rakyla Jones with her first double-double of the season: 14pts, 10reb & 5ast (game high)
Looking to make up for the OT loss in the previous day, the Bobcats did not hold back against the Dolphins in their Pre-Thanksgiving Classic.
This game was decided by halftime as the Dolphins had no answers for what the Bobcats were cooking with up (35-13).
The Bobcats didn't allow a double-digit scoring quarter as the Dolphins would finish with 9pts in the fourth which would be the closest. As a result, the Bobcats would cruise to Victory (70-28).
The Dolphins were held to their lowest amount of points scored all season, just 17% (9-52) from the field & 9% (1-11) from 3pt range.
Everybody got a taste of the action as everyone was able to tally up in the box score.
The Bobcats were led by #1 Janajah Artis with 14pts, 6reb and #4 Rakyla Jones with 13pts, 8reb (game high 6 offensive), & 7ast
