Bio

Cornel Parker is heading into his 10th season as the Head Coach of the Women's Basketball team. During his tenure as head coach, Parker has amassed a 160 –78 record while achieving national recognition during his nine seasons. The Women's Basketball team has been ranked in the top 20, five out of his nine seasons. In 2018-2019, Coach Parker was named Region 10 Coach of the Year, where he led the Lady Bobcats to their first Conference Championship in schools' history. The Bobcats added a second Region 10 Conference Championship in 2022-2023 season and would also have two first team All-Conference players, for the first time in team history.

He is a former University of Virginia (UVA) basketball athlete in which the team won the NIT tournament in 1992 and participated in the NCAA tournament three times during his career with the Cavaliers. Parker was named Dick Vital's National Defensive Player of the year, ACC Defensive Player, and the ACC top Rebounding Guard his senior year. Upon the completion of a successful collegiate career, Parker graduated from UVA with a Bachelors in Psychology and would than go on to sign with the Golden State Warriors as a free agent.

He later played professionally overseas in Turkey, France and Japan and would return back to school to earn his Master's Degree in Counseling at Cambridge College in Massachusetts in 2008. A native of Norfolk, VA. Parker was an assistant basketball coach and head JV coach at Maury high school for 12 years. He currently lives in Chesapeake, VA. with his wife Jennifer and two children, Caden (CJ) and Myla.
