BSC Women's Track & Field Finish 9th at the NJCAA DI Indoor National Championships
Pittsburg, Kansas - Bryant and Stratton College Men’s and Women’s Track & Field team competed at the NJCAA DI Indoor National Championships held at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas on March 5th & 6th. Teams represented were Hawkeye CC, Coffeyville CC, Indian Hills CC, Southwestern CC, and Garden City CC.
On the women's side, the team finished in 9th place. Kaelyn Woodrum, sophomore from Baltimore, MD, placed 3rd in the Pentathlon (All American). Chesapeake native, Jada Venters, finishd 5th place in the Pentathlon (All American). Sophomore Bahiyyah Barnes 5th place in the 600m (All American), from Richmond, VA. Lastly, Tania Dunbar from Virginia Beach, placed 5th in the 60mH (All American).
On the Men's side, Dae'Shawn Griffin, from Virginia Beach, finished 16th in the 800m preliminaries (1:58.53). Men's 4x400 relay finals: Dae'Shawn Griffin, Jason Ferrell, Jhalen Harris and Caleb McGire placed 15th (3:21.04). Chesapeak native, Anthony Powell Jr. placed 15th in the Men's Heptathlon Finals.
In addition, Bryant and Stratton was honored in the East Atlantic Region:
2021 Indoor: Tania Dunbar was the East Atlantic Region Best Sprinters
2021 Indoor: Jada Venters was East Atlantic Region
2021 Indoor: Coach Kevin Nichols East Atlantic Region Assistant Coach award recipient.
2021 Indoor: Coach Claude Toukene was East Atlantic Region Head Women’s Coach award recipient.
