TWO BSC BOBCATS VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS SELECTED FOR 2017 NJCAA ALL - REGION VOLLEYBALL AWARDS
2017 NJCAA All - Region Volleyball Awards
We are pleased to announce, NJCAA recognized two of our very own Bryant & Stratton College Women’s Volleyball players with 1st Team and 2nd Team All - Region 10 DII Volleyball Awards. Savannah Hawkins and Kaya Cortado, both had successful seasons this year.
Sophomore Kaya Cortado made 1st Team Setter. Kaya finished 3rd in the conference in Total Assists with 572. The only setters finishing higher than Kaya were from 1st & 2nd place finishing Catawba and Cape Fear - also the only other two team to run the same offensive system as the Bobcats. Kaya also led the team in serving with 95% of her serves in, while accumulating 58 aces on the season almost guaranteeing us at least one ace in each set she played! Kaya's rotation was also the Bobcats best: with Savannah, still in the front row, and Kaya's strong serve, we scored almost 3 points every time she served.
Sophomore Savannah Hawkins made 2nd Team Outside Hitter. Savannah led the Bobcats in Total Attempts, Kills, Kills per Set (2.71), and Kill Percentage (30.7%). Her 699 attempts were 3rd most in the conference, and 229 kills were 7th. She also contributed more points scored during the season with 30 aces from the service line bringing her total points scored for the season to 259!
Huge congratulations to both student athletes for a memorable 2017 season. Much success in the future.
