SeaDevils of Cape Fear Swept Bobcats 3-0
Newport News, VA - Cape Fear visited Bryant & Stratton college on Sophomore night in their last home match of the season. The SeaDevils now advance to 4-1 in conference play while the Bobcats fall to 0-3.
The first two sets were a game of errors for the Bobcats who gave up 6 and 10 points on hitting errors in each set. Our ladies served in 92% of the time, but were only able to earn 2 aces all night, while missing 4 serves and getting aced 10 times. Cape Fear was led by the defense of Grace Pulido who posted 18 digs on the night.
The third set saw a much stronger and aggressive Bobcat offensive mounting behind Middle Blockers Destiny Holley and Noemi Marquez. Marquez, who had been playing OH, returned to her trained MB position and posted 4 of her 5 kills and 2 of her 3 blocks in the set. The Bobcats held onto a 2-point lead most of the game until giving it up to a pair of aces to tie at 17-17. Cape Fear swung the momentum to a 23-18 lead before a side out following a Humphrey attack. Herdman took the service line at 19-23 and posted 2 aces and Williams scooped up 4 digs in the next rallies before a SeaDevil timeout. Two quick points by Cape Fear after the break ended the match.
