The Lady Bobcats Fall to the Eagles in Home Opener
Norfolk, VA - The Lady Bobcats hosted their first match of the season Saturday in a match versus Wake Technical Community College. The Eagles came in 3-1 overall after dropping their first conference match to Cape Fear two nights prior. The Bobcats were 2-4 entering the contest as the first conference match.
Wake Tech jumped out to an early lead, but the Bobcats erased it just as quick behind a block and kill from freshman DeAndra Moore and strong backrow play from freshman Angelica Anishchenkov and sophomore Hannah Williams. The Bobcats took the first set 22-25.
The Eagles fought back in the second set led by sophomore Ahunna Akpuda. A pair of kills closed out the second set with Wake Tech up 25-22 and really never looked back. With an 8 point lead in the third set, the Eagles' superior athleticism put up strong net play frustrating the Bobcats. BSC fought back, but still lost the game 23-25 and then ran out of gas. The Bobcats couldn't get anything started in the fourth and fell apart defensively in both the front and back row. Wake Tech won the game 25-17, moving to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in conference.
The Bobcats fell to 2-5 overall, 0-1 in conference. BSC's next match will be Saturday, Sept 11th @ 4pm.
