Kinston, NC - The Lady Bobcats took to the road for a tri-match at Lenoir Community College in Kinston, North Carolina where they first faced the Fire Ants of USC Sumter. USC Sumter fell to the Bobcats previously on opening weekend at Surry. The result was the exact same today as Bryant & Stratton was victorious again with a 3-1 score. The Bobcats were led by 14 kills from Destiny Holley and 7 from Isabella De La Rosa Sanchez. McKenzie Kilgallon added 7 aces. Hannah Williams and Angelica Anishchenkov posted 11 digs each. Final scores: 25-15; 14-25; 25-11; 25-17
In the second contest of the day, our ladies faced the hometeam Lenoir Lancers in an Eastern Division matchup of the Region X Conference. The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead behind strong serving and posted 15 aces throughout the match. The first set was a smooth sail to a 25-16 score. The Lancers fought back in the second set, coming from behind the entire game to tie the score 20-20 before pulling ahead and closing out the 24-26 win on a pair of aces. Our ladies battled back in the third set with a statement score of 25-11, breaking the Lancers spirit and resulting in an 18 minute 25-12 final score in the fourth and final set. The Lady Bobcats were led by 17 kills from Destiny Holley, 8 from DeAndra Moore, and 6 from Marlee Syer who finished the match with zero errors and a .545 average. Hannah Williams and Isabella De La Rosa Sanchez led a defensive showcase with 22 and 21 digs respectively, followed by DeAndra Moore with 16.
The Bobcats will next face undefeated Cape Fear this coming Friday at 6pm.
