Louisburg women's basketball travelled to Martinsville, Virginia on the campus of Patrick Henry Community College compete for the Region X Championship March 5-7. Their efforts fell just short of the region title.

In the first round of the tournament Louisburg defeated Bryant & Stratton College 77-71.  This win matched the Hurricanes with the number one overall seed and the regular season champion Catawba Valley Community College in the semifinals.

Louisburg would go on to upset the Red Hawks 77-70.  "This was our most complete game of the season against a high quality opponent.  Everyone contributed, our execution was excellent and we took advantage of good defensive play down the stretch," said Rasnake after the win.

Saturday night saw the 4 seed Louisburg Hurricanes fall to the 3 seed Wake Tech CC Eagles 86-59 in the championship game of the Region X Tournament. Louisburg found themselves down 9 at halftime and could never pull within striking distance in the second half.

A normally high scoring team, the Hurricanes were held to just 59 points, the second lowest scoring output of the season. "The pace of the game was in Wake Tech's favor.  We had a tough shooting night and unfortunately it came at the worst time," said Head Coach Jason Rasnake

The Hurricanes finished the season 17-9 overall and 7-7 in Region X play.
