Softball Bags Four Wins

The Pensacola State softball team hosted Bryant & Stratton (VA) and Meridian over the weekend in a round robin tournament. The Pirates defeated both teams twice in a near perfect weekend that included three no-hitters and an offensive explosion of 63 runs. Continue reading below for individual game recaps.

Meridian 0 PSC 25 (5 innings)

The Pirates kicked the weekend off with a dominant performance over Meridian winning 25-0 in five innings. The offense exploded for 16 hits with 10 difference Pirates collecting hits in the game. Leadoff batter Sajarie Jones set the pace going 3-for-4 with a double, triple and RBI in the game. Clean up batter Jessica Ford was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI's while Ellie Hansen was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI's. Maddy Childs, Mya Geros and Jenna Trim all contributed homeruns in the game.

Jorja Barrett went the distance in the circle recording a no-hitter while striking out 11 batters.

Bryant & Stratton 0 PSC 16 (5 innings)

The offense kept rolling in the second game of the day as the Pirates soundly defeated Bryant & Stratton. Shaylan Whatman led PSC to victory by driving in four runs. Whatman was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, triple and homerun in the game. Fellow Aussie Jenna Trim stroked her first homerun of the season while going 2-for-3 with two RBI's. Jessica Ford showased her power and speed going 2-for-3 with two triples and an RBI. 

Avery Beauchaine got the start and win by going four innings and striking out seven while only allowing two hits in the game. Heleena Reinhardt closed out the game in the fifth inning and remains perfect on the season by retiring the three batters she faced.

Bryant & Stratton 1 PSC 14 (5 innings)

Pensacola kept the run party going on Saturday by putting up 14 in their first game of the day behind Jorja Barrett's second no-hitter of the weekend.

Ellie Hansen was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI's. Sajarie Jones was 3-for-4 with three RBI's, a triple and a stolen base. Susanna Soldi knocked her first homerun of the season while going 2-for-3 with four RBI's. 

Barrett picked up her third win of the season while striking out 10 batters. 

Meridian 0 PSC 8 (6 innings)

In the final game of the weekend Jenna Trim tossed a no-hitter in her first appearance in the circle for the Pirates.

Sajarie Jones was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two walks in her four plate appearances. Maddy Childs was 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI scoring double. Pinch hitter Kelsi Bargman continued her streak at the plate by driving in two runs in her only at bat in the game.

Jenna Trim threw six innings and struck out 12 in her first collegiate start.
