Miles Throws No-Hitter, Curtis Explodes With Three Homers In Sophomore Day Sweep

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team moves to 14-12 in conference play, 18-12 overall after hosting Bryant & Stratton (VA) Wednesday evening for Sophomore Day.

 

In game 1, Erin Miles was brilliant on the rubber as she threw a no-hitter to lead Richard Bland past the Bobcats, 16-0. Miles allowed zero hits and zero runs over four and two thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Lily Curtis led Richard Bland to victory by driving in four runs. Curtis went 3-for-4 at the plate. Curtis drove in runs on a home run in the first, a home run in the second, and a triple in the third. Richard Bland notched five runs in the second inning. Curtis, Alexis Brandt, and Sam Denney each had RBIs in the big inning. Richard Bland tallied 16 hits. Curtis, Brandt, Casey Hart, and Alyssa Martinez all had multiple hits for Richard Bland. Hart, Brandt, and Curtis each collected three hits to lead the offense.

 

In between games, the Richard Bland softball team recognized and honored the four sophomores; Alexis Brandt, Sam Denney, Alyssa Martinez, and Erin Miles for their hard work and dedication to the program.

 

In game 2, Lily Curtis wasted no opportunities at the plate driving in five on two hits to lead Richard Bland past the Bobcats, 15-2. Curtis drove in runs on a home run in the second and a double in the third. Maggie Linthicum earned the victory in the pitcher's circle. The righty allowed six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four. Richard Bland secured the victory thanks to nine runs in the second inning. Gracie Fisher, Brianna Correa, Emma Fleming, Curtis, Alyssa Martinez, and Alexis Brandt each had RBIs in the frame. Curtis went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the offense.

 

Richard Bland softball will compete in the Region 10 South Atlantic District Tournament next week at Dorey Park in Henrico, VA. The first game will take place on Wednesday, May 11th. Time and opponent will be announced soon.
