Baseball Suffers Round 2 Loss at Lenoir, Bringing Their Season to an End
Scorekeepers were kept busy today during a high-scoring contest between the Catawba Valley Redhawks and the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats were defeated 8-12 in the 1st round of the playoffs.
#3 Kevin Caceres took the loss for the Bobcats lasting three innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out two and walking one.
The Bobcats got things moving in the first inning when #13 Devin Hicks doubled scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Redhawks tied things up at three & then pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning.
The Bobcats tallied one home run on the day when #22 Witt Scafidi had a long ball in the first inning.
The Bobcats collected 11 hits on the day. #13 Hicks, #4 Juan Mejias, #26 Nathan Maestre, and #22 Scafidi each had multiple hits while #13 Hicks went 3-for-5 at the plate to leadthe team in hits.
As a result of the loss, the Bobcats were placed in the losers brack where they would get one more shot to move on in the playoffs.
The Bryant & Stratton Bobcats Claimed Victory Over the Brunswick Community College Dolphins 4-1, avoiding elimination and advancing to the next round.
#48 Ashe Ammerlaan started the game for the Bobcats lasting three and a third innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out six.
#12 Darian Fumero earned the victory on the hill playing five and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out three and walking zero.
The Bobcats tallied eight hits, #26 Nathan Maestre, #28 Allan Navarro, and #22 Witt Scafidi all had multiple hits for. #22 Scafidi, #28 Navarro, and #28 Maestre each collected two hits, tied to lead the team.
The Bobcats didn't commit a single error in the field, #26 Maestre had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.
As a result the Bobcats would move onto round two against Lenoir Community College.

#35 Deven Shepard took the loss for the Bobcats The hurler surrendered four runs on five hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one.
In the first inning, the Bobcats got their offense started when #22 Witt Scafidi grounded out, scoring one run.
Lenoir Community College knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the second inning & would pull away for good with two runs in the third inning.
The Bobcats tallied one home run on the day when #23 Carlos Negron had a four bagger in the eighth inning, #23 Negron led the Bobcats with two hits in four at bats.
