SLOW START, GREAT FINISH IN BOBCATS 86-65 ROUT OF TCC
A local rivalry game for the Bobcats against the TCC Storm had much more adversity in it than they were expecting, but mental toughness allowed them to come back in a big way and secure the win.
The Bobcats got off to a rocky start and struggled to get anything going in the first 9 minutes of the game as they fell behind 23-11. The shooting slump continued through the 6 minute mark of the first half, as they trailed 34-15. An alley-oop from Demitri Wilson to Jaleel Ferguson with 5:40 left in the first half seemed to wake the rest of the Bobcats up as they quickly started to cut into the 19 point deficit they were just in. That dunk initiated a 17-1 run by the Bobcats who trailed 35-32 at the half after a 3-pointer by Demonte Burns in the closing seconds.
The Bobcats carried the momentum they gained in the end of the first half into the second, as they started the second half on a 16-0 run to put them in front of the Storm 48-35 at the 15:42 mark. Over the next 4 minutes, the Bobcats extended the lead to 61-45. With just over 4 minutes remaining the score was Bobcats 75 and Storm 60. The Bobcats closed the game on an 11-5 run to defeat TCC 86-65. From the last 6 minutes of the first half on the Bobcats outscored the Storm 71-31.
Demonte Burns led the Bobcats in scoring with 17 points while going 3-3 from behind the arc. Jaleel Ferguson had 14 points and 9 rebounds with 3 dunks. Marquise Johnson had 12 points off the bench. Zachary Johnson added in 8 points and led the Bobcats with 10 rebounds. Rahson Robinson had a great all-around game with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. A'Kanni White led the Bobcats in assists with 6.
The Bobcats are now 19-5 overall and 12-3 in Region 10 Conference Play. Up next they host Catawba Valley Community College. In their previous meeting the Bobcats defeated the Red Hawks 74-54.
