BOBCATS EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO 5 WITH 77-59 WIN OVER CATAWBA VALLEY
The 14th ranked Bobcats stayed perfect at 8-0 at home this season on Saturday with their conference win over Catawba Valley CC. They are now 20-5 overall and 13-3 in Region 10 Conference Play.
A'Kanni White started his best game of the season off with the opening bucket of the game, accompanied by the give and go assist from Zachary Johnson. Another quick bucket from A'Kanni forced a timeout from Catawba Valley. The Red Hawks evened it up at 10-10 by the 13 minute mark. It was a 2 point game with 7 minutes remaining in the first half until a dunk from the short corner from Jaleel Ferguson sparked a 23-8 run to make it 39-21 at intermission in favor of the Bobcats.
As the second half began, Catawba Valley was able to chip a little into the 18 point lead that the Bobcats built. They were never able to cut it to single digits in that span, as great 3 point shooting from the Bobcats allowed them to stay out in front comfortably. With just under 9 minutes remaining in the game, the Bobcats led 60-42. During the final minutes of the game, the two teams went back and forth exchanging baskets. In the end, the Bobcats were able to come out with the victory 77-59.
A'Kanni White led all Scorers with 22 points (4-7-3Pt) and 10 assists which is his season high in assists and his first double-double of the season. Zach Johnson added 12 points and 8 rebounds. Demitri Wilson provided scoring off the bench with 11 points. The Bobcats have been playing excellent defense over this 5 game winning streak by allowing only 62 points per game and not letting anyone score 70 in this stretch.
This is the final stretch of regular season games for the Bobcats who travel to play Guilford Tech Wednesday February 18th, host Patrick Henry February 21st, host Lenoir February 22nd, and close out the regular season on the road at Richard Bland February 25th.
