BSC MEN'S BOBCATS SUFFER LOSS TO (10) LOUISBURG CANES 61-55
The (14-4) Men's Bobcats were at home this weekend looking to defend their home court against the #10 ranked Louisburg College Hurricanes. The two split the meetings last year with both winning on their home court. This game had very high stakes as it was for sole position of first place in the conference.
Louisburg struck first by hitting an open 3-pointer but was answered by a 3 from Greg Heckstall the next time down the court. Early on, the Bobcats were able to slow down the Hurricanes, who average 95+ points per game, and take the lead. The Bobcats used a 12-5 run to take a 19-10 lead over the Hurricanes with just over 7 minutes remaining in the first half. Louisburg fired back quickly and went on a run of their own to take a 25-19 lead over the Bobcats with 2 and a half minutes remaining in the half. The Bobcats were able to tie it up at 25 all just before the half ended before a Louisburg free throw made the score 26-25 in favor of the Hurricanes at halftime.
The second half was very closely matched with each team trading baskets. Louisburg took a 36-32 lead early in the second half. The Bobcats trailed for the majority of the second half but kept it a manageable deficit. The Bobcats were able to tie the game up at 55 after a 3-pointer from Edward Gordon with 1:46 remaining in the half. Louisburg was able to take the lead after a pair of free throws and secure a win with the final score Hurricanes 61 and Bobcats 55.
Greg Heckstall and A'Kanni White led the way in scoring for the Bobcats with 11 apiece. Greg Heckstall was also the leading rebounder and assist man with 14 and 5 respectively.
