The Bobcats Men's basketball team, fresh off a victory over Patrick Henry the weekend before, looked to remain undefeated in conference play and at home as they faced off against Fayetteville Tech. The Bobcats came into the game 2-0 against the Trojans who are in their second year as members of Region X.
A quick alley-oop off the opening tip ignited the crowd as the Bobcats came out the gates focused and ready to play on this homecoming weekend. The early minutes of the contest were owned by the home team but basketball is a game of runs and the Trojans fought their way back and took the lead. The Trojans stretched the lead out to 12 points late in the first half. Caleb Miles checked into the game for first time and was able to spark a run and give the Bobcats back the lead thanks to his sharp shooting. Jaja Davis hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Bobcats a 45-38 lead going into halftime.
As the second half began, both teams exchanged baskets with neither team able to cut or extend the lead. Thanks to a few defensive stops the Bobcats managed to get out in transition and create some easy scoring opportunities. This allowed them to bring the lead up to 13 with just under 15 minutes remaining. The Trojans fought their way back into the game and cut the lead back down to just six points with eight minutes remaining. A 14-9 run to end the game sealed the victory for the Bobcats as they remain undefeated at home and in the conference with a final score of 82-71
'Caleb Miles finished the game as the Bobcats leading scorer with 17 points (5-7 3-pt). Jaja Davis finished the game with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Jordan Forbes led the Bobcats in rebounding with 12 and also finished with 12 points to give him another double-double. Gerrard Simpkins led the Bobcats with 6 assists for the game. Next up the Bobcats face Pitt CC in another tough Region X contest.
