Lady Bobcats win record setting 11th win in a row, knock off Wake Tech in a tight one.
The lady Bobcats entering (11-1) were on the road in this conference matchup against the Wake Tech CC Eagles entering (8-8). We saw Jali Tucker enter the lineup after being out since November with an injury, she helped the team finishing with 8pts & 3reb. This is the first time all season that the Bobcats have been healthy and had a full rotation able to suit up, knowing that; there was bound to be some adjustments that the team was going to have to face. To begin the game the Bobcats were in control, playing at there pace and making smart plays which had them up seven at the end of the first (16-9). The second quarter we saw the ladies fight back and fourth with the Eagles still remaining in the lead just up four at halftime (27-23).
The third quarter is when the team faced their true test, being outscored by seven and facing a deficit of three going into the fourth but thats when just as they've done all year; they fought. The Bobcats outscored the Eagles and locked in defensively in the fourth quarter and secured their historical victory of eleven consecutive wins in a row breaking the old record of ten consecutive set back in head coach Cornell Parker's second season with the Bobcats. The team was led by Ashanti Broughton who continues her tear as she finished with 13pts, 15reb, 2stl making this her sixth consecutive double-double & Joscelyne Meyers with 14pts, 12reb, & 5ast. The lady Bobcats now (12-1) will face off against undefeated Cape Fear CC Sea Devils (12-0) at home this coming Saturday 1/21, 1pm. You wont want to miss this one as it has all the makings of an all time classic in hand.
Congrats on history ladies!!
