1/28/23 The Lady Bobcats were on the road vs the Catawba Valley Community College Red Hawks
This was due to be a tough contest as the Bobcats were without leading rebounder Ashanti Broughton & Tatiana Galindo. There was no separation the entire game from either team, at the end the first quarter the Bobcats found themselves down two (16-18) and the game remained close for the entirety of the second quarter, both teams were still evenly matched and the Bobcats kept it tight, down just one (29-30) at halftime.
The start of the third quarter is when the Bobcats turned a gear and locked in defensively feeding off turnovers caused (15 on the day) and held the Red Hawks to just five points in the quarter which led to them finishing the quarter with the lead going into the fourth up (44-35). We saw things get close again but the Bobcats stood their ground and were able to grind out the three point win on the road (56-53) increasing there consecutive win streak to fourteen.
The team was led by #5 Joscelyne Meyers with 19pts, 7ast & #35 Jali Tucker with 10pts, 4reb
1/29/23 The Lady Bobcats returned home to face the WVU Potoac State College Catamounts
This matchup was due to be tough just like the last one as the Bobcats were still missing key players due to injury. However, the Bobcats stormed out of the gate in what would be their best quarter scoring wise taking the lead (21-18) at the end of the first. In the second quarter is when the Bobcats received the Catamounts best test as they took the lead and never gave it up, taking a halftime lead of six (30-36).
The third quarter each team traded buckets and the Bobcats were faced with an eight-point deficit going into the fourth quarter. The Bobcats tried their best to generate a comeback but the Catamounts had an answer for everything as the Bobcats lose (58-65).
The Bobcats were led by #5 Joscelyne Meyers with 22pts, 5reb & #1 Malia McCoy on triple-double watch with 9pts, 11reb, 7 ast.
This is the Bobcats first loss of the new year & first loss at home of the season, their historical run ends at fourteen consecutive wins. They look to get back in the win column as they welcome an undefeated Richard Bland Statemens to their home court 2/1/23.
