Lady Bobcats Knock off a Hot Southwest VA Team on the Road & Extend Their Win Streak to 3!
The Bryant & Stratton Lady Bobcats (6-1) were on the road to square off against the Southwest Virginia Community College Flying Eagles (6-1) over the weekend in a conference matchup with major seeding implications on the line.
Both teams had just 1 conference loss walking into the matchup and the game would not disappoint. The Bobcats stormed out of the gate with an amazing first quarter setting the tone early with a 15pt lead.
The Flying Eagles would respond in the second quarter in a big way this time holding the Bobcats to their lowest scoring quarter of the season (5pts) and getting back into the game, the Bobcats up just 4pts at halftime.
In the third quarter, both offenses would have success going back-and-fourth, there wouldn't be much separation but the Bobcats would take a 6pt lead going into the fourth quarter.
The game was still up for grabs heading into the fourth, but the Bobcats would be the ones to make the plays down the stretch and secure the Victory (57-50) over the Flying Eagles.
The Bobcats were led by #4 Rakyla Jones with 21pts, 10stl (game-high), and 5ast reeling in her second double-double of the season & #31 Latanya Berry with 10pts, 10reb, & 6blk (game-high) bringing in her fifth double-double of the season.
Next up for the Bobcats now (7-1), they will compete in the final game of a 5 game road stretch against another conference opponent in the Wake Tech Community College Eagles (4-3) this coming Wednesday night, 6pm.
