The Bryant & Stratton Lady Bobcats traveled to Joplins, MO for their first appearance in the National Tournament as the #19 seed.
Game 1 would be against the #14 Mid-Michigan College Lakers
Just like every game this season, the ladies didn't give up until the clock hit triple zeros. This was a new challenge for the ladies and they faced a large 16pt deficit early and would be down heading into half time but after an outstanding start to the second half, the ladies would go on a 10-0 run cutting the deficit to 6pts. However, the Bobcats would not be able to stop the Lakers at this point and would win the quarter but head into the 4th down 14pts and the lead would stay this way to the end resulting in the loss for the Bobcats ending their shot at the NJCAA Championship.
Free throws would be the difference maker in this one as the Lakers (23-31) shot 21 more than the Bobcats (4-9).
Game Leaders:
#31 Latanya Berry with 16pts, 10reb
#4 Rakyla Jones with 12pts, 7ast, 5reb, 3stl
#3 Liv Bodenheimer with 9pts, 4reb, 4stl
The Bobcats received a consolation game as a result of making the tournament and would face the Jackson College Jets (another Michigan team)
In this matchup the ladies again fought hard and faced a deficit early down 5 after 1 quarter, but a monumental 2nd quarter changed things around when the Bobcats held the Jets to just 3pts in the quarter. From this point on the Bobcats would never lose their lead and put the Jets away (73-64) ending the season on a high note.
Game Leaders:
#31 Latanya Berry with 22pts, 13reb (6th straight double-double)
#2 Jaelyn Brown with 16pts, 1blk
#22 Gabrielle Williams with 10pts, 3reb (4-4fg / 2-2ft)
With this being the end of the season, this Lady Bobcats team will go down as the best team in the short 10 year history of BSC after accomplishing so much and setting the standard for seasons to come.
