Lady Bobcats Open Their Season with a Victory Over Mid-Atlantic Christian 3-1
VIRGINIA BEACH - The Lady Bobcats opened their defense of home court this season with a significant 3-1 victory over visiting Mid-Atlantic Christian University (Elizabeth City, NC). Even though classes had not yet started there was a large student-body support in the crowd to usher the ladies across the finish line.
The first set started off slow, but ultimately wasn't as close as the score behind 2 kills, an ace, and a block from Sophomore Brianna Raisor. BSC opened up in the second set behind their Freshmen. Rachael Humphrey led from the service line with 4 Aces while Destiny Menier shored up the net with 3 kills and 2 blocks. The women dropped the third set close 23-25 with 8 missed serves and 8 hitting errors, but closed out the match with a grind in the forth set and a close victory 25-22.
Other match highlights / total statistics: Alani Qualls hit .439 (14att, 8k, 2e); Destiny Menier hit .778 (9att, 7k, 0e); Rainah Herdman logged 27 assists & 13 digs.
The Lady Bobcats travel to North Carolina this weekend to take on Louisburg Hurricanes @ noon.
