Bobcats Snap Losing Streak
Norfolk, VA - The Louisburg College Hurricanes came to town Friday night 1-6 and left 1-7, snapping the Bobcats 3 match slide to the loss column. The Bobcats, 6-5 before the contest advance To 7-5 on the 5-set, 2.5hr match.
The Bobcats continued the trend of scoring first and jumped off to an early lead in the first set off a pair of aces from Noemi Marques (6 total on the night). An early 8 point lead was eventually erased, but the Bobcats closed out winning the first set 25-22. The second set looked a lot like the first, just a little closer at the end 27-25 in BSC’s favor.
The Hurricanes bounced back on strong setting from Chesapeake Sophomore Shyann McClain in front of a favorable visiting crowd. McClain led Louisburg to wins in the 3rd and 4th sets (21-25, 19-25).
The momentum swung and it looked like the Bobcats were done but opened the 5th set with another Marquez ace and a pair of kills and a block from sophomore captain Destiny Holley. Both teams fought hard until the end in extra points with the Bobcats victorious 17-15. DeAndra Moore held the best stat line of the night with 25 digs, 10 kills, 4 aces on 28 service attempts with NO errors.
