Norfolk, VA - It was a long weekend for the Lady Bobcats who hosted two undefeated opponents and fed into both of their winning streaks.
On Friday night, the Seadevils visited from Cape Fear Community College. Cape Fear came in 7-0 and left with another notch in the win column behind 15 aces. With final scores of 13-25, 14-25, and 22-25 the Seadevils handed the Bobcats their first sweep in a couple weeks. Destiny Holley was still able to show some dominance at the net with 11 kills on the way to hitting .364. Deandra Moore added 6 kills and 3 aces to line in the loss. Cape Fear advanced to 8-0.
The Bobcats looked to turn things around Saturday, but got off to a rough start that left a big mountain to overcome. Faced with disciplinary issues, the Bobcats let the visiting Fayetteville Tech Trojans jump out to a 0-18 run before scoring their first point. The 2-25 first set score was followed by a 15-25 second set. The Bobcats woke up and led most of the third set, but crashed late and gave up the lead. BSC ultimately fell in the third set 20-25. Noemi Marquez was back in the lineup after missing 3 weeks due to injury and her presence was the lone ray of hope for the Bobcats. Marquez posted 6 kills with only 1 error, hitting .357 on the day. FTCC moved on to 7-0. The Bobcats fell to 6-4 on the season, and are 1-3 in the Eastern Division of the conference, 3-4 in total Conference competition.
