The Bryant & Stratton Bobcats reached the Conference championship for the first time in program history. (double elimination tournament)
The Bobcats faced the Richard Bland College Statesmen in round 1, a team whom the Bobcats had defeated twice earlier in the year apart of their impressive 22 game winning streak. Unfortunately, this playoff game would not go like the previous two for the Bobcats as they were stunned by the Statesmen 2-10, moving the Bobcats into the losers Bracket of the tournament.
It seemed that the round 1 loss was just the motivation the Bobcats needed before they rattled off 3 straight wins; a comeback win over Pitt 9-7 after scoring 9 runs in the bottom of the 6th as they were down 0-7 entering the second half of the inning, a solid win over Cleveland 5-2, and a revenge game against the Statesmen in which the Bobcats showed no mercy winning the matchup 13-0 in only 5 innings propelling the team into their first championship appearance.
The Bobcats would face a juggernaut not unfamiliar to them in the Louisburg Hurricanes and they would have to beat them twice being that Louisburg hadnt lost in the tournament to earn the conference title. The Bobcats would play an extremely inspiring game falling by just 2 after being tied at 3 a piece heading into the 6th inning.
As a result of the loss, the Bobcats will now host the Region 19 Champion Delaware Tech for the Atlantic B District Championship on May 10-11. The winner of the District Tournament will earn a bid to the National Tournament at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg, SC on May 20-25.
