The Bryant & Stratton Lady Bobcats move to 19-4 overall, 13-2 in conference play after hosting the #20 Richard Bland Statesmen Women's Basketball team yesterday evening.
The Bobcats were looking to build from their away victory over the Statemen just fifteen days ago but fell short by a score of 71-86, losing the #1 conference spot in the process.
The Bobcats faced adversity early when the Statesmen took an early, 24-13 lead through the first quarter, and carried a 48-25 lead into the break. The Bobcats came out of the break hot, outscoring the Statesmen 24-19 in the third and 22-19 in the fourth, but the Statemen's lead in the first half would carry them in the end to win.
Three Bobcats scored double-digits in the loss led by #4 Ashanti Broughton while also collecting her 16th double double of the season finishing with 21pts, 15reb, 5ast, 5stl. Malia McCoy added in 20pts of her own and Joscelyne Meyers finished with 16pts.
The Bobcats went 83.3% from the charity stripe, 45.9% from the field, and 45.5% from the perimeter.
The Lady Bobcats next host Catawba Valley Community College Saturda Feburary 18th at 1pm.
