The Bryant & Stratton Bobcats faced off against the Southeastern Community College-Whiteville Rams in their first matchup of conference play this passed weekend.
Game 1
The Bobcats snatched the lead late in their 5-4 victory over the Rams on Friday.
The Rams open the scoring in the first as a result of a solo homer to centerfield. To follow as the result of an error, the Bobcats would get on the board and tie the game at 1 in the top of the 3rd.
In the top of the 4th, the Bobcats broke up the tie as #20 Vivia Ma drew a walk with the bases loaded, scoring one run. Then a tag up by #28 Isabella Johnson, followed to extend the lead to 3-1.
The Rams would then tie things up in the bottom of the 7th to make it 3 all and just after that, the Bobcats would take the lead in the top of the 8th when #4 Shayla Hurley would hit a solo homer to centerfield to give the Bobcats the advantage 4-3.
The Rams would again tie the game in the bottom of the 8th at 4 a piece. The game-winning run would then come from #21 Iyana Betts as she singled into left field, scoring 1 run to put the Bobcats up 5 to 4.
The Bobcats had 11 hits in the game as #21 Betts, #13 Anaya Jones and #2 Cynthia Alvillar collected 2 hits for the Bobcats. #21 Betts, #4 Hurley, #20 Ma, and #22 Kiara Selby each drove in 1 run for the Bobcats. #20 Ma had two walks, and overall the team piled up 6 for the game. The Bobcats stole five bases, and turned one double play.
#12 Chloe Gust was in that picture allowing 8 hits and 4 runs, 3 earned over 9 innings striking out 3 and walking 2.
Game 2
The Bobcats were the first to get on the board in the 1st inning when #12 Chloe Gust doubled, scoring 1 run. Then later in the 3rd inning, #2 Cynthia Alvillar would extend the lead to 2-0 as a result of a double.
The Bobcats scored 5 runs on 4 hits in the top of the 6th inning when #4 Shayla Hurley drew a walk, scoring one run with the bases loaded, #2 Alvillar homered to centerfield scoring 3 runs and #28 Isabella Johnson, singled scoring 1 run to put things out of reach and to top it off #1 Bella Wren would hit a solo homer in the top of the 5th.
The Bobcats collected 12 hits in the game, lead off hitter #22 Kiara Selby lead the team with 3-4 at bats, followed by #12 Gust collecting 2-4 at bats. The bobcats accumulated 5 stolen bases in the game, and turned 1 double play.
#18 Abigail Epperson was in at pitcher giving up just 1 hit and 0 runs over 6 innings striking out 7 and walking 5.
Game 3
Despite trailing 6-0, the Bobcats rallied back to best the Rams and win 15-7.
The Bobcats would trail a majority of the game until the top of the 6th inning when they would score 5 runs on 5 hits to take an 8-7 lead, the spark came from a triple by #4 Shayla Hurley that drove in 2.
The Bobcat scored 7 runs on 6 hits in the top of the 7th inning, #2 Cynthia Alvillar, grounded out scoring 1 run, #12 Chloe Gust doubled scoring 1 run and an error resulted in 2 runs, #37 Kallie McNeely doubled scoring 1 run, #20 Vivia Ma, grounded out scoring 1 run and #22 Kiara Selby singled scoring 1 run.
The Bobcats tallied 17 hits in the game, #22 Selby collected 4 hits in 6 at bats in the win, #22 Selby singled in the 1st, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th. #2 Alvillar finished with 3 RBIs going 1-4 on the day. #4 Hurley, #1 Bella Wren, and #12 Gust each collected multiple hits and #20 Ma led the team with 2 walks as a team had 5 in the game. #00 Amhara Simmiolkjier and #22 Selby, each stole multiple bases and the team had 8 bases stolen in total as well as one double play in the game.
